North Park offers some of Colorado's best trout fishing.  From Gold Medal Lakes like North Delaney Butte to the many meandering streams, North Park has something to offer every level of fisherman.

Big Creek Lake

Elevation: 9,009 ft

Fishing: Brown, Brook, Rainbow, Tiger Muskie, Splake, Grayling
Recreation: Camping, wildlife viewing, photography, good place to observe waterfowl, shorebirds, gulls, terns and osprey.

Cowdrey Lakes

Elevation: 8000 Feet
Acreage: 80 Acres of Water
Hunting: Waterfowl, doves.
Fishing: Coldwater lake fishing for rainbow trout.
Recreation: Camping, wildlife viewing and photography; good for a variety of waterfowl species in the spring, also western grebes and shorebirds.
Facilities: Restroom, boat ramp.
Restrictions: a: Boating is prohibited if it creates a whitewater wake.
b: Sailboards prohibited.
Directions from Walden: Go 7.5 miles north on Colo. Hwy. 125 to entrance on West side of highway.

Delaney Buttes

Elevation: 8100 Feet
Acreage: 435 Acres of water in three lakes.
Hunting: Deer, elk, rabbits, blue grouse, sage grouse, waterfowl, trapping.
Fishing: Coldwater lake fishing for rainbow, brown, brook, and Snake River Cutthroat trout.
Recreation: Camping, wildlife viewing and photography. A sage grouse lek is located in the area between North and South
Facilities: Restrooms, boat ramps, shade shelters.
Restrictions:

All Lakes:
a: Boating is prohibited in a manner that creates a whitewater wake
b: Sailboards prohibited.
East Lake:
a: Bag and possession limit for trout is 2 fish.
b: Artificial flies or lures only.
North Lake - GOLD MEDAL WATER:
a: Artificial flies or lures only.
b: Bag and possession limit for trout is 2 fish.
c: Brown trout between 14 and 20 inches must be returned to the water immediately.
South Lake:
a: Artificial flies or lures only.
b: Bag and possession limit for trout is 2 fish.

Lake John

Elevation: 8100 Feet
Acreage: 565 Acres water, 282 acres land
Hunting: Waterfowl, sage grouse, rabbits, trapping.
Fishing: Coldwater lake fishing for trout.
Recreation: Camping, wildlife viewing, photography, good place to observe waterfowl, shorebirds, gulls, terns and an occasional osprey.
Facilities: Private campground and electrical hook-ups, trailer dump station, restrooms, boat ramp, shade shelters, picnic tables.
Restrictions:

a: Bag and possession limit for trout is 4 fish.
b: Camping prohibited except in established areas.
c: Waterskiing prohibited.
d: Sailboards prohibited.
